Abstrak

This study aims to explore the relationship between linguistic expression and emotional representation by analyzing the use of figure of speech in song lyrics. The research employs a qualitative method involving textual analysis of selected song lyrics. Seven categories of figurative language are identified: metaphor, hyperbole, irony, personification, metonymy, imagery, and simile. To ensure the credibility of the findings, validation was conducted through a checker or validator process involving expert review. Metaphor emerged as the most frequently used figure of speech, accounting for 36% of the identified expressions. Less frequently observed were personification and metonymy (6% each), along with imagery and simile (4% each). The study highlights the pedagogical significance of figurative language as a bridge between semantics and emotional literacy. It underscores how understanding figurative expressions can enrich literary interpretation and support emotional education within academic settings.
