Abstrak

This study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of using the Canva application as a digital tool for teaching narrative text writing in an Islamic boarding school. Writing was an essential skill in English language learning, yet many students struggled with organizing ideas, structuring narratives, and using appropriate grammar. The integration of digital tools such as Canva was expected to enhance students' creativity and engagement in writing. This research employed a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test conducted among 60 eleventh-grade students at SMA Daarul Ishlah. The experimental group used Canva as a supporting tool in writing narrative texts, while the control group followed conventional writing methods. Data were collected through tests and observations. The results indicated that the students in the experimental group showed significant improvement in their writing skills, particularly in text organization, creativity, and grammatical accuracy. The post-test results revealed that students who used Canva performed better than those in the control group. In conclusion, the use of Canva as a digital tool positively impacted students' ability to write narrative texts by enhancing their creativity, motivation, and overall writing proficiency. This study suggested that Canva could be an effective medium in English language learning and should be considered for broader implementation in writing instruction.
