Abstrak
Teaching in Islamic boarding schools is very important, especially in learning Arabic, so teachers and teaching materials must overcome students' learning difficulties in nahwu skills (maharah). This study aims to analyze the role of the Arabic language teacher on student’s understanding and skills through nahwu science. The research used a qualitative descriptive approach in Arabic teacher informants, the secondary data used a literature study, and the data analysis used triangulation. The results showed that the better the teacher's efforts to improve learning in Nahwu skills, the better their understanding of learning Arabic. Arabic teachers contribute to improving teaching material books to anticipate learning difficulties for students, especially in the nahwu science skills. The increasing role of the Arabic language is shown by its formal and non-formal functions, increasing teacher professionalism by improving teaching material books and compiling learning modules. The research implications grow the role of the Arabic teacher in innovation by improving teaching materials; the better the students' skills, the more the teacher's understanding increases, as well as formal and informal formal and informal learning in Islamic boarding schools
